Labeling Guidelines

Quick Start

• Load images: Drag & drop PNG/JPG files onto the canvas, or click the folder icon
• Select class: Click in the left panel, or press 1-4 for favorites
• Draw box: Click and drag on the blueprint
• Edit: Press V for select mode, then click boxes to move/resize/delete
• Zoom: Scroll wheel (zooms toward cursor). F to fit screen
• Pan: Hold Space and drag
• Export: Click "Export YOLO" or press Ctrl+E

Architectural

• Wall: Tight box around wall segment. Include all solid wall lines (exterior + interior). Exclude dimension lines, grid lines.
• Door: Encompass the entire door symbol — leaf AND swing arc together. All types: swing, sliding, pocket, bifold, overhead, revolving.
• Window: Box around window symbol in wall only. Exclude schedules and tags.
• Stair: Encompass entire stair symbol including UP/DN arrows and landing.
• Column: Box around column symbol (filled circle or square).
• Elevator: Box around elevator cab outline.

Plumbing

• Fixtures (toilet, sink, shower, tub): Box around the entire fixture symbol as shown on the plan.
• Pipes: Box around visible pipe runs. Label by type (cold water, hot water, waste, gas).
• Equipment: Box around water heater, backflow preventer, sump pump, etc.

Electrical

• Outlets: Small box around each outlet symbol. Note type (standard, GFCI, 220V, floor, data).
• Switches: Small box around each switch symbol.
• Lights: Box around light fixture symbols (recessed, surface, pendant, track, fluorescent).
• Panel: Box around electrical panel symbol.

Mechanical / HVAC

• Equipment: Box around unit outline (furnace, condenser, RTU, AHU).
• Ductwork: Box around duct sections. Label supply vs. return vs. exhaust.
• Diffusers/Registers: Small box around each air device.

Fire / Life Safety

• Sprinklers: Small box around each sprinkler head symbol.
• Detectors: Box around smoke/heat detector symbols.
• Exit signs, pull stations, fire extinguishers: Box around each symbol.

Accessories (Commercial Plans)

• Paper towel dispensers, soap dispensers, grab bars, mirrors, toilet partitions, hand dryers, waste receptacles, baby changing stations — box around each fixture symbol.

Structural

• Joists/Beams: Box around structural members shown in framing plans.
• Foundations/Footings: Box around foundation outlines.

Site / Civil

• Concrete/Pavement: These can be hard to distinguish — zoom in! Concrete is often shown as a stipple/dot pattern. Pavement (asphalt) as cross-hatch or shading.
• Parking: Box around each parking stall. Note ADA or EV spaces.
• Trees: Circle around tree symbols. Note existing vs. new vs. remove.
• Utilities: Box around catch basins, manholes, fire hydrants, meters.

DO NOT Label

• Title blocks / sheet borders
• North arrows / scale bars
• Dimension lines & annotations
• Text labels & notes
• Section markers (circle/arrow callouts)
• Grid lines (column references)
• Legends & symbol keys
• Door/window schedule tables

Keyboard Shortcuts

1-4	Select favorite class (wall/door/window/stair)
5-9	Select additional starred classes
D / B	Draw box mode
P	Polygon mode (click vertices, dbl-click to close)
L	Line mode (click vertices, dbl-click to finish)
V / S	Select mode
H	Pan mode (click-drag to pan)
Space	Hold to pan (temporary)
Del	Delete selected box
Ctrl+Z	Undo
Ctrl+Shift+Z	Redo
← / →	Previous / Next image
F / 0	Fit to screen
Tab	Cycle through boxes
Ctrl+E	Export YOLO
?	Toggle this help panel
Esc	Cancel / Deselect

Tips

• Zoom in! Blueprint symbols can be tiny. Use scroll wheel to zoom to detail level before labeling small elements (outlets, sprinklers, concrete patterns).
• Custom classes: See something not in the list? Click "+ Add Custom Class" at the bottom of the class panel.
• Your work saves automatically to your browser. You can close and come back.
• Export often — localStorage can be cleared by the browser. Use "Export JSON" for a backup.
